We off-take crude oil from small and major producers and manage the barrels trading, storing, financing and supplying them to our counterparties all over the world. Our physical availabilities continue to expand and diversify.
In 2009 we sold on average around 1 million bbls of crude oil per day, whereas in 2010 the number increased to 1.26 million bbls per day. REBCO originating from Russia represents less than 40% of our flows. We search for more trading opportunities mainly in Africa, the Middle East and the Americas, and the portion of volumes originating from those areas increases year by year.
Gunvor benefits from the flexibility of having access to more than 10 million barrels storage capacity located in different key areas such as the Caribbean, North West Europe, the Mediterranean and the Far East. Our strategic storage tank farm in Central America complemented with our throughput capacity to pump barrels from the Atlantic to the Pacific gives us flexibility not only to take advantage of arbitrage opportunities, but also provides logistical optionality to place different crude grades into various markets. It also enhances partnerships for local refiners and freight owners.
